The Department of Consumer and Business Services, Occupational Safety and Health Division (Oregon OSHA) will be offering two days of free training sessions to employers and workers in Lakeview on August 23 & 24 at the Lake County Senior Community Center, 11 North G Street.

Safety Committee Basic Training
Tuesday, August 23 - 8:00am to 5:00pm

This workshop gives safety committee members, especially new members, insight into their roles and how important safety committees are to building safer workplaces. The full-day class addresses topics such as meeting management, problem-solving, and writing recommendations and reviews safety rules that apply in all Oregon workplaces. This workshop meets Oregon OSHA basic rule requirements for safety committee training.

Worker Protection Standard
Wednesday, August 24 - 8:00am to Noon

The training will review Oregon OSHA's Worker Protection Standard for safeguarding workers at risk of being exposed to pesticides, primarily in an agricultural setting. A special emphasis of the class will be how to provide effective training to workers whose primary language is not English. This class qualifies for four (4) credit hours of pesticide re-certification training for Oregon-certified pesticide applicators and consultants.

Hazard Communication Program
Wednesday, August 24 - 1:00pm to 5:00pm

This workshop guides participants through developing and implementing effective ways of communicating required information to employees about the hazards that exist in a workplace, including hazardous chemicals. This class qualifies for three (3) credit hours of pesticide re-certification training for Oregon-certified pesticide applicators and consultants.
