Letter of agreement: Hearing conservation sampling requirements
Back to Letters of Agreement
Background:
Noise exposure monitoring
conducted at a number of law enforcement outdoor and indoor firing ranges show that the majority
of noise exposure levels during weapons qualifications exceed Oregon OSHA's hearing conservation
"action level" of 85 dBA. This letter of agreement relies on this historical monitoring to relieve
the law enforcement employer of having to perform noise testing for every employee and firearm.
However, other hearing conservation program elements still need to be in place.
