How to use this guide

Many of our safety and health rules require employers to follow manufacturer's instructions when their employees use equipment, handle materials, or do other tasks involving manufactured items. Here are a few examples:

Use electric hand tools in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions." [437-002-0308(1)(d)(A)]

Ropes, cables, slings, and chains shall be used in accordance with safe use practices recommended by the manufacturer or within safe limits recommended by the equipment manufacturer…" [1910.265(c)(25)(i)]
